The course itself is held just steps away from the shores of the Mediterranean in the medieval port of Alghero, a charming seaside town of cobblestone streets, lively piazzas and honey-colored buildings that traces its roots to the 11thcentury. While it was founded by the Genoese, Alghero’s history and identity has been largely shaped by the Catalans, who colonized the town in the 14th century and left behind a legacy of magnificent Gothic monuments as well as the Catalan language, which is still spoken by a large segment of the population and can be seen on street signs and menus throughout the town.

As a TEFL student spending four weeks here, you will have ample time to dive into the city’s past and experience the warmth of its people while exploring its exquisite Catalan-Gothic monuments, browsing the charming shops lining its intimate streets and lingering over a glass of local wine or a cappuccino in a street-side bar or café.

The School

The International TEFL Academy Sardinia is located in the historic port of Alghero on Sardinia’s northwestern coast. Our school is equipped with air-conditioned classrooms, a library of ESL teaching materials, computers, printers, photocopier, and audio-visual equipment.

In Alghero, the International TEFL Academy’s Partner TEFL course is run in cooperation with inlingua Alghero, a well-reputed language school that organizes native-speaker taught language courses during the autumn and winter months for the locals of Alghero, and holds group courses for international travelers from all over Europe who come to Alghero during the spring and summer months for the express purpose of learning Italian. International TEFL Academy Alghero is a trusted member of an international network of language schools and as such is able to help TEFL graduates obtain employment with its affiliates worldwide, or even in Sardinia, should a graduate decide to opt for "island living". The school is conveniently located near both public gardens and beaches and is equipped with air- conditioning.

The Class

Classes are small (typically under 15 students) and led by highly qualified and experienced instructors. This class represents a full-time commitment and typically entails 4-6 hours of class time and 1-2 hours of practicum (practice teaching) daily Monday – Friday (daily schedules will vary). Reading and written assignments will also be required of all students.

It is not necessary or required to purchase books or course materials in advance. Materials are available onsite.
