On Volunteer South Africa you will work within a local underprivileged community, live with a local family and work alongside local people all while being based near Capetown which provides great travel opportunities.

Teaching English

Teach children in underprivileged suburbs and townships of Cape Town

- Assist teachers in local schools or take your own lessons
- Provide educational support at a primary school or secondary
school
- Organise extra curricular activities, from arts and crafts, dance and
music, to sports days and football matches

Work in a crèche

Help children from underprivileged backgrounds to grow and develop through activities, education and play!

- Organise events such as games, activities and classes
- Help with a range of educational activities
- Teach South African children about different cultures
- Care for and play with the children

Environmental conservation

Help to sustain South Africa’s amazing habitats through manual conservation work or education initiatives

- Get involved in building, mending fences and construction
- Help conserve South Africa’s natural environment
- Educate local young people in environmental awareness

Social care

Give educational and emotional support to children who have been abandoned or have disabilities

- Feed, clothe and play with children
- Assist with homework and help those struggling at school
- Help with cooking and tidying up
- Get involved with social awareness programmes

HIV/AIDS Awareness

Help educate local South African communities on the risks of HIV infection

- Assist with local workshops to increase awareness
- Organise and conduct seminars and produce educational material
- General administration and promotion of the project in the
community

Health care

Give much needed medical attention to South Africans living with physical, psychological or emotional difficulties

- Assist staff in clinics and care homes
- Record medical backgrounds
- Examine patients
