General Info

The Global Volunteer Network (GVN) offers volunteer service opportunities in community projects throughout the world.

We currently provide volunteer programs through our partner organizations in 21 countries.

Our vision is to support the work of local community organizations in developing countries through the placement of international volunteers. We believe that local communities are in the best position to determine their needs, and we provide volunteers to help them achieve their goals.

Volunteering is a great way to contribute to the global community and gain experience, and also fosters personal growth. Whether you would like to take a short volunteer vacation or a prolonged gap year, GVN provides challenging and affordable international programs abroad.

Programs in Africa

Ethiopia
Tutor children after school with a focus on conversational English, grammar, science, and mathematics, as well as teaching musical and computer skills if appropriate.

Ghana Community Development
Work with local groups in educating orphans, providing vocational training, protecting the environment through eco-tourism initiatives, and starting a youth center.

Ghana Teaching
Teach English in pre-schools and primary and secondary schools throughout Ghana, and participate in the development of Ghana's young people.

Kenya
Make a difference in the lives of under privileged children and adults by providing education and counseling in schools and orphanages, HIV education and medical care.

Kilimanjaro Trek 2010
Help educate the children of Kenya and climb Africa's highest mountain.

South Africa (Reserve)
Work in a wildlife and environmental conservation program located in Gauteng Province, assisting in the managing and maintaining of a wildlife sanctuary.

South Africa (Youth)
Participate in the social and academic development of young people in Venda, South Africa with a focus on teaching and childcare.

Uganda
Provide education for AIDS orphans, help families to gain economic independence and instruct the community about health issues.

Programs in Asia

Cambodia
Teach conversational English in a school project which provides affordable language courses while immersing yourself in urban Cambodian life.

China (Rural)
Based in the village of Jiuguan, teaching English to local kindergarten and primary school students from poor farming families.

China (Urban)
Teach English at primary, secondary or university level in Shandong Province, China. Assist Chinese students to become bilingual.

Everest Base Camp Trek 2008
Climb the tallest mountain on earth and help Nepali children.

India
Volunteer in Kolkata with community groups working to alleviate poverty in the region. Programs include, teaching, medical and elderly care, women?s development and office work.

Nepal
Become involved in community aid programs in the Kingdom of Nepal, including teaching, building and orphanage and health care.

Philippines
Teaching, health, environmental, school building and maintenance, and cultural exchange programs centered in Manila and in the Romblon province.

Thailand
Assist in a wildlife rescue centre in the Petchaburi province of Thailand, feeding, maintaining and caring for mistreated and domesticated animals.

Vietnam (Orphanage)
Participate in volunteer programs in the coastal cities of Da Nang, Tam Ky and Quang Ngai, including orphanage and teaching projects.

Vietnam (Teaching)
Teach English in Duy Tan University and Da Nang University, Da Nang, and make a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.
Programs in Europe

Romania
Volunteer with a Christian mission which cares for disabled orphans in Galati, Romania in their four group homes.

Programs in North America

Alaska
Participate in environmental field work, including research, conservation education, community outreach, and environmental activism.

South Dakota
Volunteer at a youth centre located on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation to help create a viable future for the youth of the Lakota tribe.

New Zealand Nature Program
Join a small team of volunteers working to preserve, monitor, and re-establish the natural environment in the Wellington region.

Be The Change
The week long Be The Change Course is designed to take your idea, or dream and give you the skills and confidence you need to make it a reality.
Programs in Latin America

Costa Rica
Help protect endangered Olive Ridley and Leatherback turtle populations along Costa Rica's Pacific coastline.

Ecuador
Biological reserves throughout Ecuador, including the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon, with conservation and community projects.

Honduras
Become involved in community projects in the Central American country of Honduras, including teaching, building, childcare, health care, or wildlife/environmental conservation.
