A brief description of a just a few of our programmes in Ecuador:-

*The 'Children of Prisoners' is a home for children who have nowhere to go whilst their mothers are serving time in jail. The home provides them with some form of stability and a guarantee of food and a roof over their heads, until their mothers are released and they can return home. The children stay at the home for varying lengths of time but all of them are without parents and desperate for attention and love.

*Galapagos reseach station:-Main objective is to develop reforestation and technology to reconstruct native habitat in the highlands on San Cristobal Island, and to serve as a centre for similar projects in the highlands on other populated islands in the Galapagos chain. The remaining native highland forests on the populated islands is quite limited due to farming activities in general, and the introduction of useful, but very invasive species from the mainland such as tropical cedar and Cinchona. The programme has established a Plant Conservation Centre for the production of native plant species for this work.

*Teachers assistant:-This is a small school located 6 miles outside of Quito. The children need psychological support, love and attention because most of them don?t have their parents since they immigrate to Spain or Italy in most of the case. The school has the support of their families living abroad and with small resources they were able to make a great work. The school is very helpful and willing to offer as much help for all foreign volunteers.

*Medical/hospital help:- Depending on the qualifications of the volunteer and in coordination with the Head of Teaching of the Hospital, volunteers will be located
in an area where work contributes to the well-being of the patients.
These areas can be: therapy of bones, urgencies, surgery, among others.
