General Info

Teach English, Volunteer, and Explore the real Costa Rica!

The program English Volunteers for Change (EVOLC) is driven by the Foundation for Sustainability and Equity, ALIARSE, and Costa Rica Multilingue, which is a national program initiated by former President and Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Oscar Arias, to make Costa Rica a multilingual country by 2017. The program aims to contribute to improving the level of English in the rural communities and poorest sectors of the country. It is developed under the context of public-private partnerships with chambers of tourism, schools, and local partners who give support to the initiative.

Duration / Dates

Our program options are ongoing opportunities, and start dates can be negotiated to meet the needs of the volunteers. We offer programs between 6 weeks and 1 year. We currently have orientation start dates on August 15th of 2011, and January 16th of 2012.

Costs / Pay

Our current prices are $1250 for our 3 month program, $3100 for 6 months, and $4900 for 1 year. We like to inform our potential volunteers that the costs go directly to support them during their stay: 3-5 day intensive orientation and all accomodations during, lodging with Costa Rican host family, 3 meals/day, teaching materials, and 24 hour support from the program coordinator for the entire stay.
