Every autumn the committee carefully selects the following year?s EGP projects from proposals it receives from past and potential partner organisations.
These are judged against lots of different criteria, including how the project fits in with EGP?s aims, the organisation?s capacity for supporting a volunteering group, and the costs and risks for volunteers. The committee also has to consider the limitations of an organisation like EGP, and keep the numbers, costs and scopes of the projects within EGP?s capacity.
Detailed project proposals must be received ? at the very least 2 weeks before the selection date in order to be considered for the next year?s projects. The project selection day is generally in October, and the specific date is given on the Project Proposal Forms. The longer a partner has to communicate with the Project Researcher and committee about a project to follow up on any questions the better the proposal will be.
The projects we are publicising are those that we hope will go ahead in 2008. However, circumstances beyond EGP?s control may sometimes mean that a project cannot safely or practically go ahead. In this case, EGP will try to find an alternate project for the group with another project partner, if this is possible and the group wants this.
